Time Change

This is how you make a surf statue! Look at that great drop knee turn. Hands up. Throwin' spray into a fountain. Proper! Hermosa Beach ain't no Cardiff. A least one beach town gets it.

Although, what comes with that cool statue will be an ugly demolition and remodel of Pier Ave. I love surfing Hermosa every so often when it gets peaky. It will be sad to surf the pier looking back at the demolition soon of the great old school bars like Poopdeck and the Mermaid. Couple of years from now it will be even worse surfing the pier looking at the typical boxy loft style apartments with overpriced art and clothes shops below. No more small little town beach feel. No more cheap rentals. No more Pennywise. Everything changes I guess. But I wish it wouldn't.

Southie here. Fun lines. More soon.

I don't know Push, I can't believe you like a log surfer statue. The painting looks OK but it will all be in the execution, very possible it could end up bad.

I believe this is 3D representation of a classic photo of a Dewey Weber drop knee cutback. Think local history. Even if you aren't into logs this is one of surfings classically beautiful moves. Much harder that it looks. I also think you could do much much worse.

The statue of Dewey Weber looks like it was inspired from a classic shot that Leroy Grannis took of the stylish hot dogger.

Hey Anonymous,

Decades before Kelly Slater and the ASP, guys dropped into Pipeline on freaking longboards without leashes. Have some consideration for the history of the sport.

So true about what is going on in Hermosa. All the soul is going going gone.

A slight misunderstanding - PT often mentions he rarely surfs boards over six feet, so I was a little surprised he was digging the old school statue. Much respect for the stylists of all eras. Let's just hope the artist gets the hands right.

True Anon, what was I thinkin'. That artist should make Dewey updated and rippin' on a little fishy.

Yes though, lets hope he gets it right.
